For over three decades, Jason David Frank was the undisputed heart of the Power Rangers universe, transforming Tommy Oliver into a global pop-culture icon. Now, fans are preparing to honor his legacy one last time. Slated for a theatrical release on August 28, 2026—fittingly coinciding with National Power Rangers Day —Legend of the White Dragon serves as Frank’s ultimate passion project and final film. Born from a massive fan-backed campaign, this gritty, mature sci-fi adventure allowed Frank to step outside the bounds of his classic ranger roles to forge an entirely new universe. But he didn’t build it alone; to bring this swan song to the screen, he assembled an unprecedented, star-studded cast of martial arts royalty, superhero veterans, and beloved Power Rangers alumni.

Jason David Frank: The legend himself. Best known as Tommy Oliver—the iconic Green and White Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers—this film serves as his passion project and swan song. He steps out of the Ranger suit to become Erik Reed, the titular White Dragon, in a gritty, mature universe tailored specifically for his fans.

Aaron Schoenke: The film’s director and co-star. Schoenke is a massive name in the indie-geek space, best known for creating the wildly popular Super Power Beat Down web series via his production company, Bat in the Sun. He brings his signature high-octane action style to the big screen.

Mark Dacascos: Martial arts royalty. While not a Power Ranger, Dacascos brings immense cinematic credibility to the film. You know him as the lethal assassin Zero in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the Chairman of Iron Chef America, and the star of action classics like Drive and Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Jason Faunt: A massive fan-favorite in the Ranger community, Faunt is best known for his dual roles as Wes Collins (the Red Ranger) and Alex in Power Rangers Time Force. His involvement reunites him with his convention-circuit family.

Ciara Hanna: She morphed into action as Gia Moran, the Yellow Ranger in Power Rangers Megaforce and Super Megaforce. Hanna has been a prominent fixture in the franchise’s modern era and brings familiar Ranger blood to this darker, original universe.

Michael Madsen: Hollywood heavyweight. Known for his gritty, iconic roles in Quentin Tarantino films like Reservoir Dogs (Mr. Blonde), Kill Bill, and The Hateful Eight. Madsen’s casting adds a layer of serious, old-school cinematic gravitas to the project. Sadly this serves as his final film as well, as he passed in 2025.

David Ramsey: Trading the DC universe for the White Dragon universe. Ramsey is universally recognized by comic fans as John Diggle (aka Spartan) from Arrow and the wider CW Arrowverse.

Ron Rogge: Bringing pure authority and classic Ranger ties. Rogge is best known to fans as Captain William Mitchell, the commanding officer (and father of the Pink and Titanium Rangers) in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.

Rachele Brooke Smith: A powerhouse dancer and action actress. She has starred in Center Stage: Turn It Up and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, bringing an incredible level of athleticism and physical choreography to the screen.

Cerina Vincent: A beloved veteran of two distinct fan bases. To the Ranger community, she is Maya, the Yellow Ranger from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. To horror fans, she is a certified scream queen from Eli Roth’s cult classic Cabin Fever.

Lenore Zann: An absolute voice-acting legend. Zann is the iconic, Southern-drawl voice of Rogue in X-Men: The Animated Series—a role she brilliantly reprised in the critically acclaimed X-Men ’97.

Ultimately, Legend of the White Dragon is far more than a gritty sci-fi action film—it is a cinematic memorial built by a community of peers, friends, and fans. Watching this incredible ensemble of Ranger alumni, martial arts legends, and genre heavyweights share the screen is a powerful testament to the respect and love Jason David Frank commanded throughout his career. When the film finally hits theaters on August 28, 2026, perfectly timed for National Power Rangers Day, audiences won’t just be watching Erik Reed’s final battle. They will be sharing in a deeply personal farewell to a man who inspired an entire generation, proving that while the White Dragon may eventually fade into the shadows, legends truly never die.
