Wicked: For Good Non Spoiler Review
Grade: B
Let me start off with saying, that I enjoyed this movie and Ariana Grande’s & Cynthia Erivo’s performances were top notch. Most people might be surprised to hear this but outside of my nerdy comic book, sci fi, and action movies…. I really really like movie musicals. ‘Moulin Rouge’ has been a long time favorite of mine.
I have never seen the ‘Wicked’ play, and for a whole year I avoided reading what the play was about as to not spoil the end of the 2nd movie. I really enjoyed the first movie and the songs ‘Popular’ & ‘Gravity’ stuck out to me. Everyone told me though that the play was better.

Now that all being said, this movie didn’t have anything that really stuck out to me. It was the conclusion of a story that seemed rushed at times. There is no song here I believe that is catchy enough to make it on the radio again and I didn’t feel there was a song that belted any of the cast members incredible talent.

Also I have questions, as the events in the original ‘Wizard of Oz’ story don’t align perfectly with this story. I understand that the original story is not the focus, but parts of it seem out of place, or the timeline is off. I just didn’t get that satisfaction of everything explained in a nice little bow that I expected.

I still enjoyed the movie don’t get me wrong, I just think the first movie was better. My wife said she enjoyed this movie better than the first but again said, the play was better.
I do think it’s still worth watching in theaters for the visuals, sound, and especially if you’re a long time fan. There are some captivating emotional scenes that really tug at heart strings. Overall it’s a movie worth taking a chance on.
