I knew nothing about this moving going into it and had no idea what I was expecting. This movie was crazy, the twists, and turns, all of them, I did not expect this movie to go where it went.
For those thinking this movie is just about Sydney Sweeney being a maid, it is way more than that. This may be the best psychological thriller I have seen in a long time.
My wife has asked me if I could get her into two early screenings this year. One being ‘Wicked: For Good’, the other being for ‘The Housemaid’. She reads a lot of the books that become movies, and they are all sort of the same in my eyes, so when she told me about this movie, I really didn’t think much of it.

I got the invite for the press screening, I asked her, and she said she wanted to go. I feel like she sort of pulled a prank on me, because I swear she knew that I just thought it was going to be another romantic drama movie, and then to watch me during the movie as everything unfolds, I could tell she got a kick out of it.

The movie stars Sydney Sweeney (I know a lot of you check out there, but wait give it a chance), Amanda Seyfreid, and Batman hopeful Brandon Sklenar. We see Sweeney as a down on her luck character excited to be hired by a rich family hoping to turn her life around. Then we see Seyfried’s character Nina go completely nuts. Each new crazy thing crazier than the last. Then right when you are like, I sort of don’t want to see anybody treated that way anymore, the first twist happens and the movie goes a completely different direction.

That’s where I will stop. If you read the book, you probably think you know where the movie goes, but there are some changes and additions. I asked my wife after what she thought about the differences and she boldly said the movie was better.
She never says that.
Seyfried’s performance is top notch. Sklenar in my eyes showed me she has what it takes to be Batman. This is the best Sydney Sweeney performance I’ve seen out of her.

The movie is really good. If you are a husband, partner, or whatever thinking you are getting dragged to this movie this weekend. I promise you’ll be good.
