Playmates and Power Rangers made an announcement Friday that their upcoming toy line coming to store shelves, would be called ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Re-Ignition’.
This is the first major announcement for the brand since Hasbro and Playmates announced their landmark deal to collaborate in making Power Rangers toys. Hasbro has recently been shopping out their IP’s to bidders in hope of minimizing cost. Although Playmates is direct competition to Hasbro, they feel Playmates is the best partner to making toys for the 30 year old brand.
Of course the name of the toy line implies that Playmates looks to focus will be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, drawing criticism from some fans hoping to see their rarely used other teams.
