Joker 2 is now out and the response is as bad as you think it could be. Joker 2 fails to connect with fans of the last film and DC fans altogether.
A follow up to the critically acclaimed “Joker” that won Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar. Joker 2 follows its title character Arthur Fleck in the aftermath of his murder spree on Gotham. Now a broken down inmate at Arkham Asylum, his spirit is reawakened meeting Harleen “Lee” Quinzel (played by Lady Gaga) in musical form.
While the story and backbone of the film seems okay, the musical numbers are lack luster, and don’t really connect with the film. It also seems to a be a big misuse of Lady Gaga’s talents as well.
While the ending has a bit of a shock, the film itself lacks the connection the first one did, and it shows at the box office with the $200 million project only making $35 million it’s first weekend.
The movie was said to have been inspired by a dream Phoenix had but in true Joker fashion, it’s turn into a nightmare.
