Jurassic World Rebirth Movie Review
Review Grade: B
Jurassic World Rebirth premieres this weekend with its 7th movie hoping audiences will forget the last two atrocious sequels while also knowing dinosaurs always win, no matter how bad some of the movies have been.
Jurassic World Rebirth takes place in a world where people are bored and now even annoyed of dinosaurs’ return. To add to that, they are now beginning to die off and the world largely doesn’t care.
Zora Bennett, played by Scarlett Johansson, is hired by a pharmaceutical company to lead a team to the equator, where dinosaurs continue to thrive, to collect samples. This specific island once being a lab working on creating new breeds of dinosaurs that are….different looking. She brings on team leader Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) and dinosaur expert Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey).

Then we have a 2nd cast of characters of a family lost at sea that have their own adventure. This cast is lead by father Reuben Delgado, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, with two daughters played by Luna Blaise & Audrina Miranda. Then there is the scene stealer of the movie, Xavier Dobbs, played by David Iacano, who is the lazy boyfriend of the oldest daughter.
I will say this movie has some of the best performances of any Jurassic Park movie with every actor getting time to shine. It also has the most dialogue than any of the other sequels and for once, seems to actually develop its characters within one movie.
I actually enjoyed both storylines of the team on a mission and the family within movie and blends together well.

The problem, there are a lot less dinosaurs than probably any of the other movies. Then the ones we see a lot of are….different. Although I’ll say some of the dinosaur attacking human scenes do go a little further than what we’re used to. Get ready to see some good chomps.
Scarlett Johansson does stand out and this new character is a breath of fresh air for her. Mahershala always brings it and Jonathan Bailey makes a case to entering movie star status.

Overall I had fun watching this movie but it didn’t necessarily move the bar in the franchise. I don’t know if it’s absolutely needed to see in theaters unless you’re a big dinosaur or Jurassic Park fan. However, it’s a great popcorn movie and definitely entertaining.
