During a recent livestream, The Legacy of Nerd revealed the reason that the long planned Netflix Power Rangers Reboot series failed to come to fruition.
Jenny Klein & Jonathan Entwistle were long attached to the project as showrunner & writer/director respectively to the project that seemed to have little news or details of the series to be. It was learned that the reason why was that Jonathan Entwistle never really began writing the series despite years of time to do so.

Sometime last year before news of the cancellation broke, it was reported Hasbro checked in with Entwistle to see the progress that was made, only to find out there was none. Hasbro had also hired Entwistle to come up with the new look of the Rangers, but Entwistle later said he did not want to, and tried to have Hasbro hire someone else to design the new look.

The little progress that was made resembled nothing more than what Power Rangers had already been doing for 30 years, and not the modern retelling that was promised. It was reported that when Hasbro presented what they had to Netflix, they felt the same way, and no longer wanted to move forward with a New Power Rangers Series.
Entwistle during this time was wrote, directed, and filmed the new ‘Karate Kid: Legends’ movie due out later this year.

There was a rumor in December 2024 of Paramount producing a movie until this week when it was announced a new live action series was set to stream on Disney+ but still produced by Hasbro. ‘Percy Jackson & The Olympians’ showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz were in talks to showrun, write, and direct the new series.
