‘Supergirl’ flys into theaters beginning Wednesday with early screenings and despite mostly positive reviews, it is probably going to fall behind of Superman at the box office.

The follow up to James Gunn’s 2025 ‘Superman’, Supergirl brings Kara Zor-El to the forefront of the New DC Universe. The movie stars Milly Alcock and directed by Craig Gillespie. Despite early buzz of the movie, there is a small group of people who are wreaking havoc across the internet to anyone giving the movie any sort of positive notes. One would say James Gunn’s monkey trolls from Superman are in full effect.

Shortly after posting an out of theater reaction of seeing the movie, comments started coming in. You could sort of see the pattern in those posting the comments but most upset that I had said the movie was overall “really good” and not being able to handle that apparently. There were other comments of those excited or hyped for the movie, but as you know, the negative comments seem louder.

The movie is good, it’s not perfect, it has it flaws, but it is entertaining and moves the DC Universe forward in expanding what it looks like beyond Metropolis and The Fortress of Solitude. Where the movie falls short is it doesn’t inspire like Superman did, and doesn’t make you leaving the theater with that feeling of happiness of hope. I did leave the theater thinking, that was a good movie, but that was simply all.

Milly Alcock does a wonderful job and is an extremely talented actress. There is no other that could of portrayed this Supergirl other than her. Jason Momoa IS Lobo. There is no other way to say it, he was born for this role. Eve Ridley did excellent playing of Milly Alcock’s Supergirl as Ruthye and not just the pup in the Lone Wolf & Pup story. Krem is the villain we needed next in the DCU, psychotic, crazy, violent, and cannot be reasoned with.

The action is excellent and brutal, Kara does not hold back like Clark does. The practical sets and make up make a difference in making these worlds feel real.

Overall it’s a good movie, bordering on great. My rating is a B+ to A- range. You can see a more full breakdown below.
